Learn more about Eric Axel, licensed teen therapist, and his dedication to mental wellness. (Top: Young Self, Bottom: Current)
Having felt life change after being heard, understood, and included, I want to be a witness to what you need to share.

I became a therapist to translate emotions, enhance self-understanding, and transform pain after having felt misunderstood by people who didn't know how to read me. My friends, teachers, and family didn't always know I was struggling. But, to be fair, I couldn't keep up with what or how I was feeling, either. I didn't have the words to communicate what I needed. Being quiet on the outside did not mean I was quiet on the inside.

It took years of my own journey to learn how to connect with people without having to change parts of me that didn't want to change. I learned that embracing my strong emotions and rediscovering them as a source of resilience helped me connect with myself and others in a more rewarding way. I’ve since found joy in assisting others to do the same, and become enthusiastic about personalizing coping mechanisms to fit one’s needs and responding to difficult emotions so that feelings like love and a sense of belonging have a space to grow.

Clients have described me as warm, understanding, and attuned to creating a space that is open, contemplative, and growth-oriented. I believe this resonates because I have experienced the joy and growth in being able to fully explore who I am, and wish that everyone has an opportunity to do the same.
